We continue our coverage of WWE's "Road to WrestleMania" on Mstarz. There are plenty of rumors about the big event in East Rutherford, NJ April 7. The "WrestleMania 29" match card is starting to take shape, but there are some new matches that have just been added and some more rumored matches. There also is plenty of backstage news surrounding "Raw" and "Smackdown."
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been discussions about turning Kofi Kingston heel. The idea of Kingston being a bad guy seems foreign, but he certainly needs a new angle to work with. It was also reported that once Triple H takes over control from Vince McMahaon the on-air product could change. The thought is that Triple H has a much more old school approach than Vince.
Wrestling Observer Newsletter is also reporting that WWE is looking to focus more on kids with their product. The company is reportedly looking for a new Vice President of WWE Kids Entertainment in hopes of promoting the WWE brand more towards children and families. It sounds like the PG product is here to say and the days of blood filled cage matches may be a thing of the past.
PWInsider is reporting that CM Punk will not be taking part in live events (not counting "Monday Night Raw") leading up to "WrestleMania 29." Punk has been battling injuries and the company wants him to be rested going into his big match with the Undertaker. There is also word that Punk may not be attending live events in the United States following "WrestleMania 29" for some time.
According to PWInsider one rumored "WrestleMania 29" match that will not be taking place is a 10 person Divas tag team match. The match would have featured five former Divas taking on five current Divas with Trish Stratus managing one of the teams.
The "WrestleMania 29" match card for April is starting to take shape. There are six official matches on the card including The Rock defending the WWE Championship against John Cena, CM Punk against the Undertaker, Alberto Del Rio defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Jack Swagger, Team Hell No against Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston, Ryback versus Mark Henry, and Triple H against Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred match. A seventh match featuring The Shield against Sheamus, Randy Orton, and Big Show in a six man tag match is close to being finalized. It also looks like an Intercontinental title match between Wade Barret and The Miz could happen as well as Chris Jericho versus Fandango. This would bring the match card to nine, with a few more matches likely to be made. There would probably be a Divas match and there are plenty of superstars still available for the remaining matches.
