Kenya Moore Opens Up About Mother, Family in Memoir "Invisible"

Kenya Moore is finally opening up about her troubled past with her family and the pain of not having her mother in her life. In a memoir titled "Invisible," Moore revealed a look into her life in the first five chapters.

In the memoir, written in 2011, Moore writes that she always sought acceptance from her mother.

"They were vibrant, charismatic, beautiful, powerful and rich -- celebrities, in my young, impressionable mind. These were the people I wanted to be like. I was a wannabe," she wrote . "I wanted to be accepted as one of them. This is where I felt I really belonged, and there, I could hope to someday be loved by my real mother."

During the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Moore rekindled her relationship with her father and visited her hometown, Detroit, to try to contact her estranged mother.

In the photo below, Moore and her father stood in front of their old home as the reality star admitted it was hard for her to return to her past. "This is was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do in my life. But I finally got what I needed from my family," she wrote.

In another photo, Moore wrote about why she penned her memoir.

She said: "I AM NOT INVISIBLE. It's hard to express how I really feel sometimes, so I write. I started my memoir years ago but found it difficult to complete. As a thank you for all your love and support on my difficult and often painful journey with my family, I want to share the first chapters with my loyal fans and friends. Thank you for your compassion, kindness and love."

Despite being unable to connect with her mother, Moore did meet family members  she hadn't seen in years during their family reunion. In the caption of the snapshot below with her nieces, and cousins, she wrote: "The family that matters are the ones who are willing to love you."
