Last year, Hayden Panettiere, who plays Juliette Barnes on Nasville, became a household name after admitting she'd sought treatment for postpartum depression. Now, the new mom has confirmed she's finishing her leave of absence from the show, returning for Season 4.
TV Line recently confirmed Panettiere's return to the show after almost three months of leave. The move comes after she publicly stepped out last October, saying she'd be leaving the ABC drama temporarily while seeking treatment for postpartum depression, which she had been suffering since the birth of her daughter Kaya with partner Wladimir Klitschko.
While neither ABC nor Panettiere's reps have confirmed that she'll be returning to the country music drama soon, sources close to the project claim the 26-year-old is doing much better since she first spoke about her struggles with this form of depression.
Last Friday, the actress was seen back at the Nashville set for the first time since last fall.
Panettiere's character, Juliette, has also been fighting postpartum depression over the past season, after giving birth to her first child with Jonathan Jackson's character, Avery.
When Panettiere first announced she was taking a break to deal with her own struggles with the clinical depression condition, Jackson spoke to the press about her recovery.
"I think she seems to be doing really well, and obviously all of us are very excited for her to come back when it's time," Jackson told E! Online. "But I'm also really grateful that she's taking the time that she needs, and I think that that's really a wonderful example for people."
As Pop Sugar reports, while Panettiere has become the latest celebrity to speak out about fighting this type of depression, she's hardly the first person in Hollywood to do step out. In the past, actresses like Drew Barrymore, Brooke Shields, Courteney Cox, Bryce Dallas Howard and Gwyneth Paltrow have spoken in public about dealing with this condition.
