The second season of Agent Carter holds a lot of promise, with Hayley Atwell's Peggy heading for L.A. to investigate the mysterious Isodyne Energy. But what exactly is the secret that this company keeps? Showrunner Michele Fazekas has just confirmed that it has a secret that will connect the ABC TV series to Doctor Strange and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D!
Fazekas and fellow showrunner Tara Butters recently spoke to Comic Book Resources about Isodyne, where Fazekas offered some insight on what the company can do.
"Basically, Isodyne is a company that we invented based in part on real life companies like Radiodyne or General Atomic or the beginnings of the Jet Propulsion Lab -- all of which were in L.A. in the '40s, and were developing the space program and were developing nukes," she said. "That's what Isodyne is, and what you'll learn is they were involved in the nuclear testing out in the desert when they were testing the, at the time they were calling it the atom bomb -- and one of these tests didn't go as expected."
The showrunner also confirmed that Isodyne is responsible for Darkforce and will connect the show to Benedict Cumberbatch's upcoming Marvel flick.
"You'll learn more about that in Season 2, but they stumble upon what people in the Marvel Universe will know as Darkforce, but because they've never seen it before they just name it Zero Matter," Fazekas said. "That's our tie-in to the Doctor Strange universe, and also to S.H.I.E.L.D. because you've seen it in S.H.I.E.L.D. as well."
But what exactly is Darkforce? It is a negative energy that comes from a different dimension that can used to gain power, but is also corruptive in nature. In Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Marcus Daniels aka Blackout is revealed to be capable of manipulating the Darkforce.
Find out how Peggy deals with the Darkforce when Agent Carter Season 2 returns to ABC with a two-hour premiere on January 19.
