Snoop Lion continues his attempt at self-reinvention on a new Major Lazer co-produced track from the artist formerly known as Dogg, "No Guns Allowed."

The track itself is a musical grab bag, pulling a sample from Beirut, guest vocals from Drake, Stewart Copeland of the Police on drums and (get your "aww"s ready), members of Snoop's family. There is a verse from Snoop's daughter Cori B and vocals from his wife, Shante Broadus. (You see, before Snoop was Dogg, he was Calvin Broadus making his nee situation a little taxing).

Dre Skull and Ariel Rechshaid also have a hand in the production. Check out the clip below.

Snoop Lion's documentary about his conversion to Rastafarianism Reincarnated is already out in limited-release. An album of the same name is due out on April 23 via Vice/RCA.

As previously mentioned, there is a Snoop Lion companion app meant to help you dig deeper into Snoop's new reggae music and outlook. The iPad dives into each of Snoop Lion's new songs, providing liner notes, quotes from producers and artists, lyric videos and links to iTunes downloads of reggae songs that inspired the tracks. Of course, there is also advertising and linkage for Snoop Lion branded merchandise, adding fuel to the fire that this "reincarnation" is just a cash grab for Snoop.

The director of Reincarnated has a valid counterpoint, though.

"Some people have said 'cash-in' but it's a risk more than anything. There's many ways he could do that, that's what people want. This new thing freaks people out," Andy Capper said.

"It's a new phase for him, talking about gun control, anti-war. There'll be people for whom he'll always be Snoop Dog, but he wants his songs to mean something outside that gangsta world."

What do you think? Is this real or an attempt to cash in? Also, what do you think of the music?

Sound off in the comments.
