The CW's Arrow returns next Wednesday, but what's in store for Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak and the rest of the crew? And will a new flash-forward show who's in the grave from the season premiere? Beware: There are spoilers ahead.
TVLine's midseason preview addressed some of the key questions, such as: What effect will the violent attack on Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) have on Oliver (Stephen Amell)?
"Will Oliver go back on who he's become, and become more of a Season 1 type Oliver who's willing to kill?" showrunner Wendy Mericle told TVLine. "I don't know that anyone is necessarily going to be there to stop him."
In the flash-forward at the end of the Season 4 premiere, Oliver vows to "kill him" as he mourns over the grave. Presumably, he was talking about Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), but that could be a red herring. Still, Mericle promised TVLine that we would see a new flash-forward between episodes 10 and 15 that would shed more light on who is in the grave.
As for Darhk, the showrunner described his plan as "megalomaniacal" because he considers himself "a new god." It's unclear what he's planning, but he has a giant field of crops, which can't be a good sign.
Diggle's (David Ramsey) storyline with his brother will continue.
Finally, Thea (Willa Holland) has shown an ability to nullify Darhk's powers, which will bring up some "moral questions" for Oliver as he tries to fight Damien. Thea will also have to deal with Roy's (Colton Haynes) return, which Mericle described as a "really cool and emotional story."
