Jennifer Capriati Twitter Response: Charged With Stalking and Battery Against Ex Boyfriend, Media Overhype?

Jennifer Capriati is back in the headlines not for tennis matters, but for being charged with stalking and battery. People Magazine reported that the former tennis player had apparently confronted and punched her ex-boyfriend Ivan D. Brannon Jr. at a local gym around Valentines Day.

Reports also mention that the local police was informed by Brannan that he had been harassed by Capriati since the two broke up last February.

These charges have been denied by an attorney named Richard Lubin, according to the Daily News. He said, “Unfortunately, false accusations against celebrities is an almost daily occurrence in this crazy world we live in. Jennifer Capriati is innocent of these charges, and we intend to vigorously defend her good name against this nonsense."

The tennis prodigy's personal life has always been a subject of interest as well as criticism.

Since she was discovered at the tender age of 13, she became a tennis celebrity who received her fair share of news coverage. She made headlines for heavy partying and even drugs overdose.

In an archive article from People Magazine titled "Tennis Star Jennifer Capriati Gets Arrested and Raises Hard Questions About How Fast a Gifted Child Can Be Pushed," it was reported that the young tennis star had smoked crack, reefers, ate painkillers and drank alcohol.

In 1994, she checked into the Addiction Treatment Center of Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

Despite the ups and downs, Capriati earned an impressive 14 titles and a gold medal at the 1992 Olympics.

Regarding her current charges, Capriati has been tweeting to her 82,000 + followers about her feelings and frustrations.
