Love and Hip Hop New York stars Mendeecees Harris and Yandy Smith-Harris are currently preparing for the inevitable. After pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges the reality star was sentenced to eight years in federal prison. While we all are currently watching to see when exactly Harris has to turn himself in the date is closer than we all may think. It is being reported that the reality star is set to turn himself in next week on Jan.19 to begin his sentence.
According to a Bossip exclusive, Harris is getting ready to turn himself into the Allenwood Low federal prison in Pennsylvania on Jan 19 to start his eight-year sentence. However, the 37-year-old is currently trying to get the courts to allow him to serve his time closer to New York City.
The federal prison in Pennsylvania is almost four hours away from New York and it's a bit too far for Harris's liking. The reality star would much rather spend his time at Otisville federal prison, which is only an hour and a half away from the city.

The reality star believes that it would be much easier for his wife and his children to come and see him if he is as close to New York City as possible.
While we can understand wanting to be close to your family it may be a longshot for the courts to agree. Judge Frank Geraci said that the decision on where the reality star serves his time is not up to him; it is the U.S. Bureau of Prisons that have the final say.
"The court recommends that the defendant Mendeecees Harris be placed by the Bureau of Prisons as close to New York City as possible," Geraci requested in court documents.
Hopefully everything works out in Harris' favor.
