Once referred to as "America's Mayor," Rudolph Giuliani is adding LifeLock television pitchman to his long list of accomplishments. But is this really a good move for the former Presidential hopeful? In November the identity theft prevention company announced that they would be working with the former District Attorney, who is set to provide "strategic counsel to LifeLock's leadership" and work with "LifeLock to stay ahead of the constantly evolving threat of identity theft."

In his commercials for LifeLock, Giuliani is scene asking the viewers, "Looking forward to you tax return?" Then he quickly adds, "So are identity thieves, and they can steal your identity without you knowing it, in order to get your refund. You have to be proactive when it comes to identity theft, especially during tax season."

This full commercial can be found below.

According to LifeLock's senior director of corporate communications Tami Nealy, identity theft has been the "number one consumer complaint reported to the FTC in the past 12 years." She says Giuliani "has a strong track record of fighting crime, which is why we are working with him."

Some people have questioned the value of politicians such as Giuliani becoming the spokesperson for a product. An expert on using celebrities as pitchmen, Jordan McAuley feels that Giuliani is an "interesting choice" for LifeLock. McAuley feels that, although the people "liked Giuliani when he was cleaning up New York," nowadays many people see Giuliani as divisive, or "a person who forced policy on the public."

He furthers his point by asking: "Why couldn't they have chosen someone older to go with their demographic? Somebody who everybody likes - what we in the business call a 'Love Boat' celebrity?"

You be the judge. Here is the LifeLock commercial featuring Giuliani. What do you think? Is he a good fit?
