Another season 12 hopeful has been sent home on "American Idol." Thursday night's episode trimmed the contestant total to eight after sending home another "American Idol" finalist. FOX's hit reality show went back to its old ranking system of highlighting the bottom three vote getter's before sending the loser home packing. How did America vote? Following Wednesday night's Beatles night, the bottom three vote getter's last night were Paul Jolley, Devin Velez, and Amber Holcomb.
What!? Amber Holcomb in the bottom three? This was surprise enough, but could it be Holcomb aka the next Whitney Houston will be sent home? There was no surprise that Jolley was in the bottom three, although I am a bit shocked Lazaro Arbos didn't join him after a terrible performance on Wednesday night's Beatles show. "Idol" judge Nicki Minaj said it best, "I definitely think Amber should not be in the Bottom 3."
There were three guest performers on last night's show including former "Idol" contestants Casey Abrams (Season 10) and Jessica Sanchez (Season 11). Abrams performed "I Saw Her Standing There" while Sanchez performed her new single "Tonight" with Ne-Yo. Sanchez also revealed on Thursday night's show that she will be on "Glee" and releasing her album Me, You & The Music on April 30.
The final five female contestants performed the Beatles' "Here, There And Everywhere" while the final four male contestants sang Earth, Wind & Fire's "Got to Get You Into My Life."
The time finally came to reveal who would be going home. It turns out Paul Jolley is the unlikely contestant sent packing this week. Thank goodness it wasn't Amber Holcomb who deserves to stay in the competition for at least a few more weeks. Jolley was clearly one of the weaker singers left. We now are left with eight contestants, five of them being females. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the top three singers are all females.
What did you think of the voting results? Are you surprised that Paul Jolley was sent home or did America make the right choice?
