Ever since Sony and Marvel finally closed a deal on bringing Peter Parker/Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Civil War became even more interesting for fans. Now, months before the film's release, a supposed insider to the film reveals whether Tom Holland's Spidey will side with Steve Rogers or Tony Stark/Iron Man!
According to information obtained at Geek.com, Spidey will be siding with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, or at least he'll do that at the beginning of the film. In fact, this is where it gets interesting: it seems like it's billionaire Stark who discovers Peter Parker as a prodigy!
The report says that in the MCU, 15-year-old Peter, who's already swinging his webs around Manhattan, has been a big fan of Stark since his childhood ... and, once that genetically modified spider bit him, the reason he was inspired to become a superhero was Iron Man.
Of course, ever-vigilant Tony notices Spidey's talents and approaches him as a recruiter, even giving him a Stark Industries-made suit to fight crime with. Spider-Man, amazed at getting noticed by his childhood hero, accepts the invite to be on Tony's team, at least for the time being, forming a pretty interesting bond.
Surely, the suit Tony made for Parker must have been a million times better made than whatever he had been working with, which was probably something along the lines of that cringe-inducing piece of cloth Matt Murdock wore throughout the first season of Daredevil.
Of course, so far this is just a rumor, and even if it is true, it seems unlikely that Marvel Studios would confirm such a key element of the film.
Cinema Blend reports that there have also been persistent rumors that Spidey's joining Captain America's side in the battle of the superheroes, though there could be an explanation to this: Tony's ways could easily disappoint Parker into joining Steve Rogers.
