Aaliyah Dana Haughton was without a doubt the "Princess of R&B." Her smooth and captivating vocals matched her beauty inside and out, easily making her lovable by everyone whose presence she graced. Yesterday marked what would have been the late singer's 37th birthday. Although 15 years have passed since her untimely death, fans and fellow musicians have kept her legacy alive. If you checked out any social media sites, all you saw was Aaliyah trending, which shows how much she touched lives, before and after, with her music.
Haughton died in a plane crash in Barbados just after wrapping up shooting what was her last video, "Rock The Boat."
Since her death, many music industry heavy-hitters are still struggling to come to terms with losing the rising star. Aaliyah, music producer Timbaland and rapper/producer Missy Elliott shared a special musical relationship. After collaborating for her second album, One In A Million, the trio became inseparable. Both music producers were inconsolable as they learned the news of the singer's death.

"She was like blood, and I lost blood," the music producer said in a phone call to TRL back in 2001. The producer also later shared to E! News that he was secretly in love with her, but decided to channel those feeling into a brother/sister relationship. Anyone who knows the extent of the trio's relationship knows that this loss was one of the hardest things they have dealt with. Take a look and see how some of music industry's finest honor Aaliyah on her birthday.
