Bollywood actress and ex-wife of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Kalki Koechlin, is a self-made woman who has earned respect among the celebrities and outside of the film industry by her talents. She is among the few actresses in Bollywood at this moment who stands for being a great feminist role model. The actress recently co-wrote and performed her new poem, "The Printing Machine," and it is arguably the most influential thing on internet at this time.

Koechlin's poem on women, exaggerated notions of beauty and the current orthodox nature among the Indian society, will surely make anyone cringe in their seat. The way Koechlin has bluntly presented the real image of media which portrays women and sensationalize the news on crimes against them. The words like, "Chrr tak tak takka dakka tak chhree" reminds the listener of the sound of the printing machine.

According to Indian Express, the poem performed by Koechlin talks about the famous 2012 Delhi gang rape, how a tourist was brutally raped by the local guide, the rising number of acid attacks on girls and how females are not allowed to visit the house of worship at the time of their menstruation.

According to Hindustan Times, the video is directed by Akanksha Seda and was released on the women's lifestyle channel Blush earlier this week. According to Koechlin, her poem, "The Printing Machine" is written for the Culture Machine's UnBlushed series and it mainly talks about the violence and brutality that Indian women face in the society.

"Printing Machine was inspired by one of the key influencers in our lives––news houses and the media. We are flooded by an onslaught of objectifying and horrific news reports and imagery that have desensitised us. It is only when we look at these reports in totality do we realize what our Indian heritage and culture have come to, and how we have come to be at the mercy of printing machines," Koechlin added.

In 2015, the actress received thunderous applause by playing Laila, a girl with cerebral palsy who discovers her sexuality in Margarita With A Straw. Ever since her Bollywood debut in Kashyap's box-office hit film Dev D., Koechlin has explored a range of characters and has tried to break the norms of Bollywood actress stereotypes.
