Not only do we have casting news involving the new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie, but we also have "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" casting rumors involving Rebel Wilson. Yes, the same Rebel Wilson who became a star in "Bridesmaids." First; however, we need to tell you about the star of "Hunger Games 2" that will also be playing Raphael in the "Ninja Turtles" reboot. And no it's not Jennifer Lawrence.
Alan Ritchson who is playing Gloss, the District One tribute in "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," will also be playing Ninja Turtle Raphael, you know, the red one. According to Deadline, fans won't be seeing Ritchson's face in the TMNT movie because he will be wearing a motion capture suit. This is the second biggest casting news involving TMNT in the last couple weeks. Paramount also recently announced Megan Fox will be playing the female lead in the latest turtle movie. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is slated to be released May 16, 2014.
Unfortunately not much is known about the "Ninja Turtles" movie. The movie had to go through a number of changes after rumors of the film depicting the turtles as aliens and not mutants surfaced. As of right now the only two confirmed actors are Fox and Ritchson. The IMDB page for the movie has the following synopsis: "Aliens invade Earth and inadvertently spawn a quartet of mutated reptile warriors, the Ninja Turtles, who rise up against them to defend the world."
In other casting news, "Bridesmaids" actress Rebel Wilson revealed to BuzzFeed that she has discussed playing a part in "Hunger Games: Catching Fire." When asked if fans will ever see Wilson in "Hunger Games" the funny woman responded, "Um, seriously, I have had a meeting about being in The Hunger Games. Yes." Wilson also revealed that she is a big Jennifer Lawrence fan.
At this point it may be too late for Wilson to be in the second installment of the "Hunger Games" franchise, but who knows, maybe we will see her in the third film.
Would you like to see Rebel Wilson play a part in "Hunger Games?"
