Saturday Night Live returned last night with Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Adam Driver after a brief Christmas hiatus. The NBC series opened the show mocking last week's Republican Debate. And while several moments from the cold open stood out, player Taran Killam's impression of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, and the fact that he may or may not be that well-liked, was what stood out to many.
Mocking the recent beef between GOP candidates Cruz and frontrunner Donald J. Trump, Saturday Night Live kicked off with the latter, as portrayed by Darrell Hammond, mocking the fact that Cruz's campaign very well could be all for nothing, as he was reportedly born in Canada.
"Ted Cruz was born in Canada," said Hammond (as Trump). "He can't be Presdident. His campaign is illegal. Their words, not mine."
Cruz (portrayed by Killam) quickly responded with, "Donald, this debate about natural born citizenship is just political nonsense." The Saturday Night Live key player further joked, as Cruz, that he's clearly not Canadian because, well, those from Canada are oftentimes well-liked.
"I am not," he added.
Further stating that Cruz is "mostly made of pudding," Killam mocked the senator's looks even more so, claiming that when the Republican hopeful smiles, it looks like he's merely peeing.
So, is it true? Is Ted Cruz unlikeable?
Also, while we're at it, does he look like he's urinating when he smiles?
