It's bee one rough week for legendary singer Celine Dion. Just two days after she lost her husband, Rene Angelil, to throat cancer, her older brother, Daniel Dion also died of cancer. Following the sad news, People magazine released details for Angelil's funeral arrangements.
According to the publication, the 73-year-old's funeral will be held at the same church he married Dion 21 years ago. Angelil and Dion wed at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal in 1994, and it will be the same place friends, and family will say goodbye to Angelil.
Angelil's funeral service will be on Friday, January 22. His last wishes was to have his funeral at the same church he married his wife.
"According to his final wishes, his funeral will be held at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where 21 years ago, he chose to marry the one who will remain as the great love of his life, the artist for which he had the most respect, the woman who gave him light and happiness until his very last breath," People stated in the obituary.
After the tragic loss of her husband, and brother, Dion canceled all of her concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. "A Chapel of Rest" will be open to the public on Thursday, January 21, for anyone who would like to pay tribute to the late music manager.
Dion confirmed that her husband died just two days before his birthday in a statement released on her website.
Her brother's death was confirmed by Dion's representative, Kim Jakwerth. Daniel Dion died at the age of 59 on Saturday, January 16, which would have been Angelil's 74th birthday. Dion died with his family surrounded by him. He had been battling cancer for a number of years. Daniel, 59, died Saturday surrounded by his family after battling cancer for several years.
Dion met her husband back in 1980 when she was just 12 years old. After Angelil discovered and signed her, he mortgaged his home to pay for her debut album, La Voix Du Bon Dieu.
