'Piku' Star Deepika Padukone to Act in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Gustakhiyan' With Irrfan Khan?

Bollywood sensational beauty Deepika Padukone has flabbergasted her fans with stunning performances in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani with Ranveer Singh and by her award-winning performance in Piku with Irrfan Khan. Now the new reports suggests that the talented actress will share the screen with Khan in the upcoming romantic film, Gustakhiyan.

According to FirstPost, Bhansali has already started working on his next project which will be based on famous Indian poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and his long time partner Amrita Pritam.

"Sahir's pride, poetry and fragility influenced not just me but the entire film industry. He lived with his mother. His love story remained incomplete and the pain he suffered helped him create something magical," Bhansali said in a statement.

Bhansali even admitted that it was Ludhianvi's life and love that has influenced all the protagonists he ever wrote.

"I feel an affinity to him, he's influenced all my protagonists, right up to Bajirao, none of whom were satiated in love."

However, the maverick director won't be directing the film. Reports suggests that the film will be produced under Bhansali's production company, Bhansali Productions and it may be directed by Jasmeet Dhodhi, who earlier directed Dus Kahaniyaan.

Padukone and Khan earlier came together for Shoojit Sircar's Piku in which the 30-year-old actress played the titular role. The film tells the story of the short-tempered Piku Banerjee, her grumpy and ageing father Bhashkor (Amitabh Bachchan) and Rana Chaudhary (Khan), who is stuck between the never-ending fights between father and daughter, as they a life-changing journey to Kolkata. The splendid performance by Padukone went on to earn her the Filmfare Award for the Best Actress 2016.

Currently, Padukone is all set to make her Hollywood debut with XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. The film is going into production in Jan. 2016 but the Indian actress will join the team in February. According to Coming Soon, XXX: The Return of Xander Cage cast now has three international actors on board: Jet Li, Tony Jaa and Padukone. Ever since Padukone uploaded a picture of herself with Diesel, fans on social media started to speculate about her Hollywood debut. With that, the actress chose to stay mum.

The details of Padukone's role in Bhansali's Gustakhiyan and in XXX: The Return of Xander Cage are still under wraps but given her earlier records of portraying different roles in different films, Padukone is surely going to impress her fans in whichever film she appears in.
