Actor Dennis Quaid and wife Kimberly Buffington have been separated for several months but have reportedly reconciled and are back together. Unfortunately, their divorce proceedings started in November of last year cannot be stopped. The emotional split after 8 years of marriage graduated into filing divorce papers as soon as possible, which the couple is most likely regretting now since they cannot stop the divorce at all. So does this mean that they will have to get remarried and do they even want to?
The separation of Dennis and Kimberly was very heated, Buffington claiming the relationship "become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities." This split turned into a heated custody battle over their twins.
Quaid offered spousal support but wanted physical and legal custody over the 5-year-olds. The 56-year-old actor even purchased a $3.1 million home in the Pacific Palisades for his estranged wife and twins after the split.
Their divorce papers are in the possession of a judge and the two have no means of petitioning the legality of their split at this point. There have been no reports or statements on whether they will remarry after the divorce goes through or if the judge will simply stop the proceedings. At this point, though, Dennis and Kimberly are back together, apparently working through the discord and/or conflict of personalities.
Here is a video profiling the couple's split which led to the divorce filing:
