On Sunday evening's episode of "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" (March 24), business mogul Donald Trump confirmed the sad news that one of his infamous "The Donald" impersonators had unfortunately passed away. However, during the episode, several fans were led to believe that the REAL Donald Trump had died - prompting a viral death hoax to take over Twitter and Facebook. So just to confirm, the infamous president of The Trump Organization is indeed still alive and well, despite recent ongoing rumors that he's dead.
On Sunday night's episode of "Celebrity Apprentice," Team Power (led under "Deal or No Deal" model Claudia Jordan) was struggling to locate NYC's top Donald Trump impersonator for their "Melina" skin care campaign challenge. Turns out the popular impersonator had just recently passed away, so they had to settle for a Joan Rivers imitator.
While Trump expressed his heartfelt condolences after hearing about The Donald impersonator's death later on in the board room, rumors were already beginning to swirl online that he was the one who had actually died.
According to The Examiner, a Facebook page entitled "R.I.P. Donald Trump" surfaced online - it garnered over one million fans before being taken down. The morbid celebrity death hoax even took over Twitter:
@destiny_11313h: "Mystery of @realDonaldTrump "death" solved. #DonaldTrump impersonator died. #RIP #CelebApprentice."
@Cyn19013h: "NOW it makes sense. May Fake Donald Trump RIP. @DonaldJTrumpJr Yikes."
@greendayrock9213h: "Donald Trump dead... Who's the rumor starter??? #CelebrityApprentice."
Several fans didn't fall for the Donald Trump death scare, although NBC startled some when they aired reality TV villain Omarosa screaming "Donald is dead!"
"I was shocked when I heard Donald Trump had died," Debbie Whyte, a fan from Oklahoma City, said. "I had to wait through too many commercials to learn it was a Donald Trump impersonator instead. That was mean of them to make me wait so long."
As Mstars suggested before, fans should make sure that they get all their info from credible sources before going crazy on social media... spreading fake celebrity death rumors are exactly what the hoaxsters want!
