By popular demand from fans and critics, Fox is just days away from bringing back their iconic sci-fi/horror series. In the upcoming revival of The X-Files, will Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) discover one of them is actually "immortal?"
As we previously mentioned, 13 years have passed since FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully were on the TV screen solving weird and supernatural cases. The reboot of Fox's popular sci-fi series continues with an all-new 6 episode arc. Not only are the two leads back to reprise their iconic roles, creator Chris Carter will takeover as showrunner once again for the franchise that launched his and many other careers.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the theory that Scully is immortal comes from the third season episode, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose. Emmy winner Peter Boyle played a tragic psychic who foresaw how people would die. When Scully asked how she would meet her end, Bruckman responds, "You don't."
In season 6, an homage to the Run Lola Run, in an episode co-written by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, Scully and Mulder are caught in a time loop. They keep repeating the same day of their deaths as a bank robbery gone wrong turns into a explosion. Fans believe that time keeps resetting itself because Scully cannot die.
Is it possible, even in the season 6 episode, Tithonus, when the crime photographer sacrificed himself for Dana and met Death, that Scully will never die?
In an interview with Huffington Post, the Millennium creator teases the answer will be revealed, "It's certainly been suggested, but I can tell you this: Stay tuned for Episode 6."
