Duck Dynasty's Jessica and Jep Robertson have debuted their newly adopted son, Augustus, to the world in a tweet. The couple also opened up about their decision to adopt a fifth child and revealed what patriarch Phil Robertson thinks of them adopting a black child.
The Robertsons also appeared on Good Morning America on Thursday. Jep also shared that they would be calling the new family addition Gus when he posted a photo of the bundle of joy on Twitter.
Thanks for the love! This has been a crazy, awesome ride but so worth it! Me and Gus signing out! #JepAndJessica pic.twitter.com/ps0MMcLdGJ

Jep and Jessica Robertson appeared on Good Morning America to dicuss the new addition to their family. The couple, who are already parents to Lily, Merritt, Priscilla, and River, recently adopted Jules Augustus. Jessica stated that she had thought for many years about adoption and that the urge got "heavier and heavier."
Jep added during the interview, "If you can spoil a child, we are definitely doing that."
The Robertsons were asked what the patriarch of the family thought about them adopting a black baby. A seemingly odd question except for the controversy surrounding Phil Robertson in the past.
In 2013, 67-year-old Phil Robertson was suspended from the family's reality show, Duck Dynasty, after his interview with GQ Magazine in which he disagreed with homosexuality. He also stated he never saw suffering of black people before the civil rights movement.
Robertson stated that he grew up in the same social class as African Americans and never saw a black person mistreated. He added that he picked, or hoed, cotton right alongside them. Phil added, "They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people'—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: 'Were they happy?' They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."
Jep said of his father, "He’s always said -- I guess this never got quoted -- he says, 'We’re all part of one race, the human race.' He says that quite often so he loves [Gus]."
Jep and Jessica are currently starring in their own spin-off show, Jep & Jessica: Growing the Dynasty.
