Starz is just hours away from the highly anticipated Season 3 premiere of Black Sails. This is the perfect opportunity to check out why we're anxious to see Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), Eleanor Guthrie (Hannah New), and Blackbeard (Ray Stevenson).
As we previously mentioned, in the wake of the destruction of Charles Town, where the world lives in fear of Captain Flint (Toby Stephens). When his campaign of terror crosses over into madness, it falls to John Silver (Luke Arnold) to locate the man within the monster. Meanwhile, with Eleanor Guthrie (New) gone, as Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) and Captain Charles Vane (Zach McGowan) struggle to secure Nassau for the ages. Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard (Stevenson), returns to settle some unfinished business.
We have 5 reasons why we have to see Season 3 of Black Sails here:
5) The Unlikeliest Team-up!
Though they despise each other, Flint and Vane are destined to share a common future. The two work better when they are feared by others. Flint said "We have to remind them that they were right right to be afraid." When Flint said that, he undoubtedly meant it. No one had a chance of making it out alive when Charles Town fell. How ithe hell do you top this scene?
4) There's A Hurricane Brewing!
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tom Hopper reveals Billy Bones and the rest of Captain Flint's Crew will face-off with a hurricane in the second episode. Hopper teases, "It's completely gnarly. t took the entire season to shoot. It was such a big sequence that there was always someone revisiting it throughout the season. You'd drive around the studio, and see one of the rigs constantly being blasted with water."
3) How's Eleanor Going To Get Out?
At the end of the sophomore season, Eleanor Guthrie (New), the Queen of Thieves as she's been called, has been taken prisoner. How is Eleanor going to get out of this tricky situation? Well she's going to have to be smarter, more resourceful, and be more of a badass than she already is! I can't wait to see what happens with this character!
2) You're Reliving Your Childhood!
This critic dressed up like a pirate, with the fake hook and eye patch, for his first Halloween. Hell, the pirate costume is the first thing this adult(ish) writer puts on every Halloween! There's just something cool about wanting to play the anti-hero. What Black Sails does best, with its costumes and swords, is bring out the sense of adventure for gold.
1) You Tell Them Blackbeard is Coming! And He's Bringing Hell With Him!
In our MStars News Interview, Ray Stevenson dishes on playing the infamous pirate, "So you've got a man that's not only of that world, but a creator of that very world that Black Sails is operating within. He's been away for the last eight or nine years, so when he turns up, it's almost like a ghost turned up. It's like this legend walks in and you know he's separate but he's not detached. So creating a character that is both separate of the world but not detached from it is very exciting to approach. And also the effect that he's going to have on that world. He basically turns it on its head."
Season 3 of Black Sails premieres at 9pm Saturday, January 23 on Starz.
