Chris Maurice "Chris" Brown sat down with MTV and other prominant media outllets to discuss his upcoming album "X" to be released August 2013.
X is about life, it's about me," Brown told MTV. "X is the 24th letter of the alphabet, and I'll be 24 when it comes out. When you see X on a vial, it's like forbidden fruit. For me, it means being able to express myself without a filter, without boundaries."
Without boundaries for Brown means sharing more of the album process with the press. He has had recent negativity from the press in regards to his social media rants. His last vulgar Twitter rant with comedian Jenny Johnson left a sour taste in fan's mouths, as Brown tweeted comments about defecating in Johnson's mouth. But according to Brown he has grown from his outburst.
"I think it's smarter as an entertainer and as a leader," Brown told MTV News.
Brown shared tracks from his forthcoming album with the media, in attempts to reintroduce himself as a mature, and peaceful artist.
The first single "Fine China," produced by Diplo who has worked with Brown in the past and recently produced on Snoop Lion's "Reincarnated," brings fans back to classic Chris Brown.
"For the first single, I wanted to go more nostalgic, bring Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Sam Cooke to it, but also bring a new sound to what my audience and fans are listening to," Brown said. "For this album, I wanted to have the same mentality as I did with the first album - me being green, me not thinking I know what's hot and what's next, me just being Chris Brown. I think this will show my vocal ability a lot more. I've developed a falsetto, I can sing at a higher register, and I can elaborate more on my skill," Brown told MTV News reporters.
It is no doubt that Chris Brown is talented, despite his public domestic dispute with Pop Princess Rihanna, his alleged club brawl with Young Money's Drake, his classic Twitter rants, and battle of the parking space with Grammy nominated singer Frank Ocean.
"X" will feature elevated vocals from the Platinum artist, including several features from the industries best, like Kendrick Lamar, and possibly J Lo. J Lo tweeted a photo of she and Brown in studio March 23.
