In speaking of the recent controversy surrounding the Oscars—in that no African Americans were nominated for the second year in a row—It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Danny DeVito is giving his opinion on the #OscarsSoWhite issue. Fresh off the start of Season 11 of the FXX hit, DeVito has come out saying that we're all just a "bunch of racists."
Sadly, it was in a more somber tone and not necessarily as ... crazy ... as Frank Reynolds would have delivered it.

The legendary actor recently spoke with the Associated Press at the Sundance Film Festival about the issue, which has caused several famous names to propose an Oscar Boycott, telling the publication, "Even though people were giving great performances in movies, they weren't even thought about." He then noted that "the entire country" is a racist one and that we are living in a nation that has some serious issues with regards to race.
He further added, "We're a bunch of racists."
And while some might take the line to be a joke, it appears there was no sense of humor in the actor's tone.
DeVito's opinions about the Oscars appear to mirror those from actress Jada Pinkett Smith, Spike Lee and Snoop Dogg, all of whom have chimed in on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. With that, upcoming Academy Awards host Chris Rock has been facing some pressure from the African American celeb community, namely Tyrese Gibson and 50 Cent, to step down from hosting the show. The comedian recently revealed that despite the controversy, he's not backing away from the job.
In fact, he's just writing a whole new show.
Catch the Oscars this coming Feb. 28 on ABC at 7 p.m. EST.
