Fox aired the premiere of the DC Comics/Vertigo supernatural series, Lucifer. Twitter had lots to say about Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), Detective Chloe Dancer (Lauren German) and the angel Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside).
As we previously mentioned, Lucifer is based on the comic book character created by Neil Gaiman, from The Sandman comic book series, the prince of darkness has earned his first big lead and the show will focus on his devilish lifestyle in Los Angeles. Lucifer resigns from the kingdom of Hell after becoming bored and unhappy.
In our premiere recap, Lucifer (Ellis) finds himself drawn to the shocking murder of his former lover, Delilah (AnnaLynne McCord). During his investigation, Lucifer becomes attracted to Chloe (German), because she seems oblivious to his devilish charms. After Chloe suddenly gets shot, Lucifer makes sure Delilah's killer learns the true meaning of Hell. Though the angel Amenadiel (Woodside) wants Lucifer back in his true realm, the Devil himself refuses to go back.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ellis describes playing the ruler Hell, "The amount of people who have told me I'm perfect for this part, like my friends and family, is slightly worrying. His openness is where the fun is. I never at any point wanted to make this character arch. He just didn't strike me as that person. His sense of fun is infectious, and that's how he gets to people."
