Ever since news broke that the John Hamm's impressive bulge had to be edited out of AMC promotional materials for their hit show Mad Men, the internet at large (eh? eh?) has been obsessing over one specific part of Don Draper's anatomy, and the star has had enough.
Hamm took to the pages of Rolling Stone to vent his frustration over the internet's (admittedly, pretty creepy) obsession of late.
They're called 'privates' for a reason," he said in an interview.
" I'm wearing pants, for fuck's sake. Lay off."
Hamm went on to say that he's aware that his job isn't a difficult one and that media obsession is part of the trade-off. However, he feels that public clamoring for his downstairs is a bit over the line.
"I mean, it's not like I'm a fucking lead miner," Hamm said."There are harder jobs in the world. But when people feel the freedom to create Tumblr accounts about my cock, I feel like that wasn't part of the deal."
Hamm eventually admitted that there are worse things to be known for.
"I guess it's better than being called out for the opposite," he relented.
The whole mess was triggered by a story in the New York Daily News that quoted a Mad Men insider as saying " "Jon's impressive anatomy is so distracting that they politely insisted on underwear."
The tight-fitting 60's period clothing apparently left "little to the imagination" and forced some last-minute Photoshopping on behalf of AMC's marketing wing.
What do you think? Does Jon Hamm have a right to be angry that his bulge is an internet sensation? Is this part of the deal that modern celebrities must accept if they wish to be rich and famous?
