Apparently a lot of people are up in arms over movie star Jim Carrey's recent gun control video for Funny or Die. The 'Dumb and Dumber' actor mocked the late Charlton Heston and the NRA in the comedic video "Cold Dead Hand." Carrey's anti-gun video has drawn the ire of right-wing Conservative commentators, specifically FOX News host Greg Gutfeld, who responded with a passionate rant on "The Five." There even is a petition on Change.org asking for Carrey to be deported back to his home country of Canada.

Over the last few months the gun control debate has heated up and controlled the headlines across the United States. There are two sides, one being those who believe strongly in their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. On the other side are those who feel gun violence has gotten out of control and stronger restrictions need to be put in place. Going by his Twitter account it seems like actor Jim Carrey has long been a gun control advocate.

The comedy website FunnyorDie.com is known for enlisting the help of celebrities to star in their comedy videos. So, Carrey and Funny or Die created the video "Cold Dead Hand," poking fun at former NRA President and "Planet of the Apes" actor Charlton Heston. The nearly six minute video has gone viral across the Internet. The complete video is below.

FOX news co-host of "The Five," Greg Gutfeld apparently was very angry over this video when he went on air calling Carrey a "moral coward" and "modern bigot." Gutfeld went on to question Carrey's motives, questioning via Newsbusters.org), "He thinks this is biting satire? Going after rural America and a dead man?"

Gutfeld's rant may have just drawn more attention to the video, as it has caused many more media outlets to pick up the story. Gutfeld got quite nasty at one point, saying (via Newsbusters.org), "He did a video attacking rural America. You wouldn't do video about gangs which kills more people with handguns. He wouldn't do that because he is too worried about his career. He's such a pathetic, sad, little freak. He is a gibbering mess."

Carrey fought back on Twitter saying, "'Cold Dead Hand' is [about] u heartless motherf***ers unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids. Sorry if you're offended by the word safety!" Carrey continued by tweeting, "I'm appalled at [what] I've seen on [this] stream the last few days, all in hatred's defense. No wonder it's so dangerous to be a child today." One thing is for sure, whether you agree with Carrey or Gutfeld, both sides are very passionate about the topic. Carrey later took a more neutral approach by tweeting, "There r also many fair minded [people] out there and I appreciate their support [but] I love [everyone] whether we agree or not."

There also is a petition on Change.org that states, "Deport Canadian Citizen Jim Carrey for Attacking 2nd Amendment: Stop attacking American 2nd Amendment and move back to Canada." You can read the entire petition here.
