Travis Kelce is enjoying a rather pleasant week both on and off the field. Not only is the Kansas City Chiefs tight end exploring all that Hawaii has to offer as a member of the Pro-Bowl, he has also signed a 5-year-extension with the Chiefs, as well as locked in his very own reality dating show (not kidding--there's going to be 50 women, one from each state)!
According to the Kansas City Star, the deal is reported to be worth $46 million over the span of five years, including $20.02 million in guaranteed money. In putting pen to paper, he signed the second richest contract for a tight end in NFL history, only behind that of one Rob Gronkowski--naturally.
So yeah, things are pretty good for Kelce right about now. Did we miss anything, Travis?
"Other than that, I got to hug my mother today," Kelce told reporters on Friday. "So I guess things are getting better and better."
Truer words have never been spoken.
Over the last two seasons, Kelce has become a go-to receiving option for Kansas City quarterback, Alex Smith. During that span, Kelce has compiled 139 catches for 1,737 yards and 10 touchdowns. Not only that, but he also contributed heavily to the Chiefs playoff win this season--their first such victory in 22 years.
As for that TV show, well, Kelce doesn't want to get into all that just yet.
"To be honest, right now I'm trying to stay focused on signing and keeping everything going in Kansas City," Kelce said. "I'd rather not get into the whole TV show, I'm going to kind of let that play out and let it be what it is.
"I'm just happy right now to be out here with my family and my friends and some of my teammates and coaches to celebrate a moment like this."
Fair enough...
