Fans of the hit videogame World of Warcraft could undoubtedly say that playing the game has been a mind-altering experience. However, for Second Chance star Rob Kazinsky, WoW actually saved his life when he started playing the game.
Kazinsky was recently a guest on Conan, where he admitted that playing the tough Sean Slater in the BBC TV series EastEnders was a horrible experience for him. Fans of the show would treat him horribly, sending him into depression so he didn't want to leave the comfort of his home. That was when he discovered World of Warcraft and made new friends who helped him get through the dark times.
"I was able to forge new relationships that didn't come with any preconceptions and I was slowly given these rewards in game that, believe it or not, affected my confidence, gave me the boost and before you know it I was able to have a little bit of self-belief again," Kazinsky said. "I credit World of Warcraft with saving my life."
It certainly looks like Kazinsky's life has taken a turn for the better. He is currently one of the stars of the Fox TV show Second Chance and he has landed the role of Orgrim Doomhammer in Duncan Jones' film adaptation of his favorite videogame. However, Kazinsky insists that his happiest days were spent playing WoW.
"I've never been happier than when I was really fat and no one had any expectations of me and I was playing video games," he admitted.
Warcraft also stars Vikings actor Travis Fimmel, Agent Carter's Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell of Fantastic Four, Paula Patton from Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, 3:10 to Yuma actor Ben Foster, Daniel Wu of Into the Badlands and Ruth Negga from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The film is scheduled for release on June 10.
