Although Game of Thrones has its share of strong female characters, fans have usually seen Sansa Stark as a pawn who has been used by others to get ahead in the series. However, Sophie Turner promises that the sixth season will be a good one for the Starks' eldest daughter.
Turner recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly during the SAG Awards party, where she confirmed that Game of Thrones Season 6 has some major moments for Sansa.
"I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa," Turner said. "It's probably her best season yet. It's her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it's really good."
The X-Men: Apocalypse star also hinted on Sansa's story arc finally reaching a satisfying moment that fans will truly appreciate.
"It was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it's been building up and up to that," Turner explained. "You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves."
But what exactly happens to Sansa in the sixth season? The character was last seen escaping from Winterfell with Theon/Reek (Alfie Allen), so it is possible that they get rescued by Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie). In addition to that, Sansa may finally reunite with one of her brothers and join the Battle of the North!
It was previously reported that Turner has been spotted on the Game of Thrones set for a major battle sequence, where she was seen with costar Kit Harington, who plays Sansa's half-brother (or possible second cousin) Jon Snow. There is a possibility that Sansa might team up with Jon to rally the Starks and other Northmen to take Winterfell back from the Boltons.
Game of Thrones Season 6 will air on HBO in April.
