Snoop Dogg has a long-standing comedy sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in which he takes on the job of narrator in a totally different version of the BBC/Discovery Channel show Planet Earth. Snoop's version, Plizzanet Earth, has become so popular that there's now a Change.org petition to have him narrate a whole season of the actual show!
The petition, directed at the rapper, Animal Planet, Discovery Communications and the BBC, has a very simple premise. In short, people want it.
"Snoop Dogg has narrated some Planet Earth in the past but yo we need him to narrate full episodes. Sign the petition if you agree," the site reads. "We the people have agreed - we want Snoop Dogg to narrate full episodes of Planet Earth!"
At the time of this article's publication, the petition was short of fewer than 500 signatures of reaching its 50,000 goal.
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the campaign got an extra boost last weekend after Kimmel's late night show and the Dogg himself posted about it on Twitter.
So far, none of the companies the petition is directed at has responded to the campaign in any way, but let's hope they're at least considering it.
As The Daily Mail reports, the original Planet Earth aired in the UK in 2006 on the BBC, narrated by British national treasure Sir David Attenborough. The following year, it came to America with slightly altered scripts on the Discovery Channel and was narrated by actress and naturalist Sigourney Weaver.
For about a year, rapper Dogg has had a recurring sketch on Kimmel's late-night show where he narrates wildlife events with his iconic style. Like Celebrities Read Mean Tweets, it's turned into one of the most popular sketches on the show, and really, how cool would it be to really have the rapper talking about nature on the Discovery Channel?
