Thanos may just have been a minor villain in Guardians of the Galaxy, but Josh Brolin's Mad Titan will actually play a larger role in the upcoming Phase 3 films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brolin is currently preparing to reprise the role in Avengers: Infinity War and has just admitted that being Thanos is worth all the trouble he had to go through during filming.
Brolin spoke to Superhero Hype, where he revealed that he provided more than just his voice in Guardians of the Galaxy.
"It's not voice work, it's mo-cap. I'm there. I'm there and I'm not in a booth. I'm being filmed. I have a bunch of crap on my face," Brolin said with a laugh before dishing on the painstaking process.
"I'm being filmed by like thirty-four cameras? Thirty-six cameras? Something like that. Every movement, everything. So, it's very new to me, it's very exciting, it's very unnerving but I sure trust these guys, you know?" he said.
It may be a completely different experience for Brolin, but he certainly can't wait to play Thanos again.
"We're supposed to get together very soon to talk about the trajectory of Thanos in the next few years and it's very exciting," he said, adding that he is glad to have taken on the role.
"It's one of the better decisions I think I've made," Brolin concluded.
This isn't the first time that the Hail, Caesar! actor has portrayed a memorable comic book character. Brolin appeared as the disfigured bounty hunter in the 2010 DC film Jonah Hex, but the movie didn't do too well in the box office. He has also played Dark Horse character Dwight McCarthy in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
Brolin will return as Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1, which will premiere on May 4, 2018. He will also appear in the second part, which is scheduled for release on May 2019.
