'American Idol' Recap: Last Night's Season 12 Voting Results, Devin Velez Latest to be Eliminated in 2013, Colton Dixon, Keith Urban, One Republic, Katherine McPhee Perform Live

Last night, another contestant was sent home on season 12 of "American Idol," bringing the remaining total number singers down to seven. Wednesday night the competitors sang Motown songs from Detroit and most did a solid job; however, the male singers continued to fall behind the females. This especially became true when the three remaining males butchered their rendition of The Temptations' "I Can't Help Myself" to the dismay of Nicki Minaj and the rest of the judges. I previewed Thursday night's episode predicting Devin Velez would be the singer going home. Was I correct?

Yes, my prediction turned out to be right. Devin Velez was voted off "American Idol." I think Lazaro Arbos is the weakest singer in the competition, but I felt fans would vote Velez off, because Arbos has that underdog factor. I also was correct in predicting Arbos would be right there in danger of getting eliminated as he and Burnell Taylor were also in the final three. Is this a tough season for male singers on "American Idol" or what? The remaining three male singers were all in the bottom three.

After Velez's boot from the competition, there are five female singers and two males left. Velez had an opportunity to sing one last time to try and convince the judges to use their one "save" on him. Unfortunately, despite it seeming like Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, and Mariah Carey were ready to give him the save he was not given the pass.

In other moments on last night's results show, "American Idol" played a phone message Aretha Franklin left for Kree Harrison, giving her props for her rendition of "Don't Play That Song" on Wednesday night's show. Also season 11 contestant Colton Dixon performed his new Christian music single "Love Has Come for Me." Another former "Idol" contestant Katherine McPhee performed "If I Lose Myself" along with One Republic while judge Keith Urban brought his fellow judges to their feet with his country song "Long Hot Summer."
