Sometimes the Internet gives people a feel good story. This is the case with seven-year-old Arianna Hill and her broken cheeseburger. Hill, who is Autistic, reportedly can sometimes have trouble in restaurants making scenes and even throwing herself to the ground. This is why her parents MacLean and Alex will usually pay the bill up front in case they have to leave mid meal as to not become a distraction to other patrons. However, something different happened when the Hill family went to a Chili's Grill & Bar in Midvale, Utah.
On their trip to Chili's, Arianna Hill ordered a cheeseburger and fries. However, her older sister noticed she wasn't eating the cheeseburger. When asked why, she said it was "broken." The cheeseburger had been cut in half by the restaurant. When Arianna's sister Anna explained to the waitress that nothing was wrong with the burger, but her little sister is autistic and they need another one, the waitress immediately told Arianna she would have the chef cook a new cheeseburger for her.
It was the waitresses reaction that apparently made all the difference in the world. "It was amazing, the interaction immediately went from me explaining the situation to Lauren, to Lauren talking directly to Arianna," Anna explained to NBC's TODAY. The manager of the restaurant, Brad Cattermole, even helped out by apologizing for the "broken cheeseburger." According to Anna, if the waitress just took the burger without saying anything, Arianna likely would have had a meltdown.
This was not the case; however, as Arianna got a brand new cheeseburger not cut in half. Arianna's reaction? She started kissing her new burger in excitement. MacLean ended up taking a picture of her daughter kissing the burger and shared the story on Chili's Facebok page. The post has over 800,000 "Likes" and nearly 200,000 shares. Now that is a viral social media post! You can check out the photo of Arianna kissing her new burger here.
According to TODAY, a Chili's spokesperson wrote in a statement, "We are delighted by the shining examples in Lauren Wells, Brad Cattermole and the Midvale team, and their kind gestures that made Arianna, Anna and Alex feel so incredibly special."
This is a heartwarming story and a nice example of kindness shown between strangers.
