The Golden State Warriors are the best team in the NBA. There's no doubt about that. With the best record in the NBA they are the early, and clear, frontrunners to win the NBA Championship--which would be their second consecutive title. It's scary how good they have been. But what's even scarier is how good they could be if Kevin Durant heads that way this summer.

This is all speculation of course, but it's been said that the Oklahoma City Thunder star--who will be a free agent come the summer--is entertaining the idea of plying his trade elsewhere. While he's deeply fond of the Oklahoma City community, and loves the franchise dearly, it's ultimately championships and a legacy he is after. And if he doesn't think he can accomplish that in Oklahoma, by all means he'll go elsewhere.

Enter Golden State. For as impressive as they are, and for all the pieces they have on their team currently, they actually have the ability to pursue Durant financially--able to create the salary cap space necessary to sign the 2014 NBA MVP. They also have the ability to move a couple of veteran players--Andre Iguodala and Andrew Bogut--if necessary to clear out space for a Durant signing.

Aside from monetary logistics, Golden State appears to be a good fit for Durant for two reasons: they value team basketball and winning above all else, and Steph Curry is Kevin Durant's type of person. You know, they could probably enjoy some dip n' dots at the fair togther while discussing the meaning of life.

This from Adrian Wojnarowski, via Yahoo Sports:

"Durant is forever searching for spiritual people in his life. It is a common thread of those who've found ways into Durant's circle. It makes Steph Curry the most dangerous recruiter in the world on several levels: His prodigious talent, peaceful soul and grounded life."

See? They could be best friends.

Yes, the summer is a ways away and Durant hasn't gone so far as to hint that he will be leaving OKC, but if it's titles he's after, Golden State looks like a pretty enticing destination.
