Lil Wayne has finally spoken out on the reason behind his recent hospitalization due to complications from seizures. Apparently, it isn't cough syrup that caused his recent health scare. Weezy F. Baby has epilepsy.

"The bad news is I'm an epileptic, I'm prone to seizures," Wayne said yesterday in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106 , the first since his health scare earlier this month. "Like, this isn't my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I've had a bunch of seizures, y'all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad 'cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could've died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself."

This falls in line with what Cash Money CEO Birdman said about the incident. Birdman blamed the seizures on Wayne's work ethic and was quick to stress that it had nothing to do with drugs.

"But it wasn't nothing about no drugs. He just needs to get some rest and relax, take it one day at a time," Birdman said.

Wayne says the seizures due to epilepsy are so common that the people he keeps around him know how to handle the seizures when they occur.

"They already know how to handle it," he said. "Certain times I don't even go to the hospital, but this time, it was real bad because, like I said, it was three in a row, and I've never had three back to back like that."

Lil Wayne recently released I Am Not A Human Being II and, in spite of his seizures, is set to start a 40-show tour this July.
