There is just a few more days before the premiere of Deadpool, and fans simply cannot get enough of the Merc with the Mouth. Luckily, a new IMAX featurette has just been released, where director Tim Miller has revealed why Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson is so different from every other Marvel superhero!
Nerdist unveiled the IMAX featurette, where Miller explained why he decided to take on Deadpool as a project.
"I'm not some Hollywood director that decided to jump on the comic book bandwagon," he said before admitting that he actually loves comic books.
"I'm a pretty hardcore fan, 400-a-month habit," he admitted.
Although spending $400 a month on comic books alone may be a little extreme, there is no doubt that all that dedication has given Miller better insight on what Deadpool is really like.
"Deadpool is a very grounded comic book hero," he said. "He lives in a s--t apartment, and he deals with s--t people, and his life is not filled with chrome and fast jets and everything else."
Miller also confirmed that Deadpool's film will show a different side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"I think it's kind of the perfect contrast to the shinier sides of the Marvel Universe," he said.
Deadpool was created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza as a not-so-serious version of the DC character Deathstroke. Even his real name is a play on the character's true identity Slade Wilson. Although Deadpool was initially created to be a supervillain, the character eventually became one of the most popular Marvel antiheroes because of his salty dialogue and tendency to break the fourth wall.
Deadpool also stars Gotham actress Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, former Game of Thrones actor Ed Skrein and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The film will finally premiere on February 12.
