While Rock was in the hospital, label-mate Kendrick Lamar gave one of his best performances at the 58th Annual Grammys Awards. Like Beyonce's Super Bowl 50 performance, Lamar's stage presence is still a trending topic.
The rapper wore a prison suit and was handcuffed as if he was behind bars as he voiced his powerful lyrics: "The Blacker the Berry" to the audience.
Grammys host LL Cool J revealed to The Wrap the rapper's performance would probably make some people uncomfortable. "Kendrick Lamar is going to do something very controversial. And that's what art is about. It's not about whether you agree or disagree, it's about it stimulating conversation and provoking people to have conversations about society," he explained.
Lamar took home five Grammys Monday night.
Lamar's performance even received praise from the White House.
This is why I highly respect Kendrick https://t.co/I2g2jUbzV6 — Social Couture (@Social_couture_) February 16, 2016
