The rivalry for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards has officially ended, as one from the leading competitors takes the crown. The four nominees, namely, The Big Short, Spotlight, The Revenant, and Mad Max: Fury Road were all in a sort of tight competition. And it was such a surprising event as The Revenant wins Britain's most coveted Best Film Prize last Sunday.
A total of five awards were taken home by the film from the event which includes camera work and sound. "Overwhelming", it was what the film director Inarritu all could say when asked by a reporter after the event.
Winning the BAFTAs, also marks the fact that Mexican director Alejandro G. Inarritu's film, The Revenant is commendable. It took several crown during the DGA including Leonardo DiCaprio's win as best actor. And most importantly the Best Picture spot for the movie itself on Hollywood's most coveted film awards, the Oscar's.
On the other hand, the other three films which fought hand in hand with The Revenant for the Best Picture also took a series of awards. The Best Original Screenplay was taken by Spotlight. Mad Max: Fury Road was awarded for editing, make-up and hair, costume and production design which also counts as the next major winner for the night. And lastly, the Adapted Screenplay Award for The Big Short.
The cast of The Revenant includes, Leonardo DiCaprio as Hugh Glass, Tom Hardy as John Fitzgerald, Domhnall Gleeson as Captain Andrew Henry, Will Poulter as Bridger, Forrest Goodluck as Hawk, Paul Anderson as Anderson, Kristoffer Joner as Murphy, Joshua Burge as Stubby Bill, Duane Howard as Elk Dog, Melaw Nakehk'o as Powaqa and a whole lot more. It was directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu and written by Mark L. Smith based in part of a novel by Michael Punke.
Congratulations to all the awardees and winners!
