The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has applied to the U.K.'s Intellectual Property Office to trademark a slew of goods in the pregnant Duchess' name in order to benefit the charity according to St. James Palace. This branding effort was first considered after Kate's and Prince William's royal wedding. Also, rumors that Amner Hall on the Sandringham Estate would become the home of the royal couple have been all but confirmed as even more preparations have been made as the Middleton's July due date approaches.
But don't think that Kate is trying to make money off of this trademark process! This is all a way to protect the charity. The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge charity got its name from the royal union and then applied for merchandise protection in the categories of "clothing, footwear and headgear." A spokesperson for the charity told E! News:
"Since the name change of the foundation last year, we have been registering our new name and logo in different territories around the world. As part of that process, we have to choose any categories under which we might conceivably operate in the future. This also protects the foundation against other people using its name illegally. We included clothing in case we choose, for example, to make t-shirts in years to come for marathon runners, etc."
Another aspect of their new life that Kate and William are focusing on these days is the preparation of their country house, Amner Hall on the Sandringham Estate. Since Kate is coming into her sixth month of pregnancy, the couple's residency rumors have turned into serious reports.
According to The Daily Telegraph, which managed to see the proposed property plans, the couple is planning on some upgrades to the estate in order to ensure privacy. The British media source says:
