Ant-Man fans must have been anxious for these past few months while waiting for The Big Short filmmaker Adam McKay's decision if he's to return or not for Ant-Man and the Wasp. Well, the wait is finally over as McKay breaks his silence and confirms he's still in the Paul Rudd sequel.
McKay shared with Nerdist about his involvement in the newest Ant-Man series. "We've been talking to Marvel actually. We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved. I don't know if it's gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There's a little headline for the fanboys!" he said. It is not clear yet if McKay will be helping out with the script or with the screenplay or with both.
McKay's is not the only one returning since director Peyton Reed and Evangeline Lilly are confirmed to return for the sequel as well. Lilly will surely have more fighting scenes in this sequel. If you would still remember, Hope Van Dyne (Lilly) was shown with the super-suit, the first Wasp in the post-credits. As for Ant-Man himself, he's also reprising his superhero role though it is not yet clear if Paul Rudd would also resume his work on the screenplay area.
As of this moment, Adam McKay is quite busy and well, one can say happy, as the film The Big Short, which he directed, is receiving so much love. It has five Oscar nominations including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay. McKay also received a nomination for the film as Best Director. The film has just received its Adapted Screenplay award at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Who knows, this sequel might receive awards with Adam McKay on the team. That would be a total surprise!
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6, 2018.
