'The Walking Dead' Season 3 Finale: Spoilers, Alternate Endings? AMC Show Sets Series Ratings Records, What Was Going to Happen?

Even if you're not a fan of AMC's "The Walking Dead" you have probably heard about the show. For millions, it's their favorite show, which is why the season 3 finale was a huge ratings success for the relatively unknown network. "The Walking Dead" delivered AMC its largest audience ever Sunday night, which is great news for fans who are already eagerly anticipating season 4. There also was some interesting news revealed recently about alternate endings to season 3 that never aired.

"The Walking Dead" season 3 finale scored 12.4 million viewers along with 8.1 million in the 18-49 category. On AMCTV.com, President of the network Charlie Collier certainly sounded like he knew what his money maker was. "Two words: Grateful. Dead," said Collier in statement on AMCTV's website. "It's a joy that we get to work with such tremendous talent to make The Walking Dead and Talking Dead come to life for audiences that continue to engage and grow. In just three seasons, The Walking Dead has become a pop-culture phenomenon, entertaining millions of passionate viewers and obliterating traditional lines between cable and broadcast television."

Not that there was ever any question as to the future of the show, but this is great news for fans who hope it sticks around for a while. Look for the great ratings to continue into season 4 as the show continues to generate great buzz.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed Dallas Roberts, who plays Milton on "The Walking Dead." In the interview Roberts reveals some interesting information regarding alternate endings to the season 3 finale. Just a heads up for anyone who hasn't seen the season 3 finale, the following contains spoilers.

When asked about Andrea's death scene, Roberts told EW that they had to re-shoot the scene several months later. "So it was essentially the same idea, except you saw me taking chunks out of Laurie Holden in that version," Roberts said. "And then they called us back a few months later to re-shoot it and made all those changes. So now you're not sure if I've gotten her until after that door opens, and I think that's probably why they did it." Roberts goes on to reveal that they actual shot scenes of Milton as a zombie biting into Andrea. "It's funny, in the articles and on Talking Dead last night, you'll notice stills of Milton where he has glasses on," Roberts explains. "They are from the scenes that we shot and weren't aired."

So there you have it. A possible alternate ending to season 3? It sounds like the writers had a different direction or idea they wanted to go and for whatever reason they changed the script. What did you think of the season 3 ending?
