Audiences have ben eagerly anticipating Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix. This is the perfect opportunity to check up on Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock) and Jon Bernthal (Frank Castle aka The Punisher) as their comic book alter egos in the official trailer.
As we previously mentioned, Matt Murdock (Cox) was a young boy when he was struck blind after a near fatal car accident. Though everyone thinks he lives in complete darkness, radioactive chemicals gave him back his sight. By day, Murdock pretends to be the blind lawyer attending courtroom battles. But when darkness falls, Daredevil serves out his own brand of justice as he protects Hell's Kitchen from likes of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).
Check out our 5 thoughts on the official trailer of Marvel's Daredevil Season 2 here:
5) More Fighting!
Not only is it getting physical, there's some mental tension going on! Something has definitely changed in the dynamic between Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Murdock. Karen and Foggy feel responsible for the lives that Frank Castle keeps taking. It's Dr. Frankenstein turning on his own creation, The Monster. And it looks like the sophomore season is going to try to top the one-take hallway sequence!
4) The Punisher!
New showrunners Doug Petrie (American Horror Story: Coven) and Marco Ramirez (Sons of Anarchy) have crafted a drama more like a revenge thriller, reminiscent of Death Wish. The Punisher seeks his own kind of justice after the system failed him and his family. Harkening back to Frank Miller's run, the Walking Dead actor portrays Castle as a defeated solider, suffering from post-dramatic stress. It doesn't matter if the writers switch the war from Vietnam to Iraq; the mindset is still there.
3) One Bad Day!
The highlight of the trailer is when Frank Castle (Bernthal) says to Daredevil, "You're one bad day from turning into me." We get quick cuts of the Punisher and Daredevil going at it, trading punches and busting heads. In one helluva shootout. Castle is holding onto a dead man as cover as he opens fire on the gunmen.
2) Where's Kingpin?
Yeah it's nice to see Rosario Dawson making a guest appearance as Claire Temple. Where's Vincent D'Onofrio in the trailer? D'Onfrio was just scary, menacing, and complicated as the crime boss, Wilson Fisk. Doesn't Fisk still have to get revenge against Karen Page for putting bullet holes into his best friend? Who's the Big Bad for the sophomore season?
1) She's A Bad Girl!
In our recap of Murdock vs. Nelson, in a flashback, the college buddies made a reference to the so-called "Greek Girl," but she was never seen. In the trailer, we see the man without fear walking slowly across and all of a sudden, he pulls out a knife? This is how Matt says hello to an ex? Seriously, how messed up did Matt get with Elektra (Elodie Yung) that he has to pull out a weapon? Can't wait to see part two of the trailer!
Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil premieres on Netflix March 18, 2016.
