It should come as no surprise that Beyonce, the singer of "Girls (Run The World)" considers herself a feminist. However, that didn't stop Queen Bey from opining on her views in an interview with Vogue U.K.
"But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are?" she said, according to the Huffington Post U.K. "Why do you have to label yourself anything? I'm just a woman and I love being a woman."
"I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it's something that's pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept," she added.
Though Beyonce has publicly taken on her husband Jay-Z's last name and naming her World Tour (which starts on April 15 in Belgrade, Serbia) "The Mrs. Carter Show," she says that shouldn't be a knock on her belief in feminism. According to Beyonce, her marriage and first child have only strengthened her.
"I feel like Mrs. Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I've ever been," she said. "It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, 'OK, this is what you were born to do'. The purpose of my body became completely different."
Expect big news from Queen Bey. She released a 6 second teaser clip today (Wednesday) to prepare fans for an announcement tomorrow. The clip ended with "4.4.2013 9AM EDT #BeyHereNow."
