Bollywood sensational beauty Priyanka Chopra is making her way into International projects. The actress was recently appreciated for her American TV series Quantico, for which she grabbed the People's Choice Awards trophy for favorite actress in a new TV series. Now, she is all set to share the screen with Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch movie adaptation as an antagonist.
Chopra, who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani has joined the cast of Baywatch in Toronto. What's interesting is that the actress has been roped in to play the antagonistical role of Victoria Leeds, which was initially written for a male.
In a conversation with Hindustan Times from Montreal, Canada, the 33-year-old actress shared, "I met the director (Seth Gordon) on Skype (laughs). The negative part was actually written for a man. I spoke to him for another role in the film, but he liked the idea of me playing the negative role despite being a woman. So, the script was reworked."
The actress was thrilled to be a part of Baywatch remake as she had seen the original series as a child. Apart from Chopra, the film features Johnson, Zac Efron, Kelly Rohrbach and Alexandra Daddario. This isn't the first time when Chopra will be seen enacting the BIg Bad role. She has played gray shades in Bollywood films like Aitraaz and 7 Khoon Maaf.
While everyone is elated about the remake of Baywatch, Canadian-American actress Pamela Anderson, who shot to fame for her role in series Baywatch, said that making a movie won't be a good idea. There is a major difference between the preferences of the current viewers and the viewers back then. As reported by Cinema Blend, Anderson said that the audience might fail to accept the show as a movie, since "no one appreciates the remakes." On the other hand, Efron said that the production team is very serious about the movie adaptation and they are trying something very new and different than the TV series.
The actor was quoted by Just Jared as responding: "I think we're going like pretty big with it and I don't think it's going to be much like the old Baywatch, to be honest. I think we're going to kind of reinvent it in a big way, and [Johnson] has big plans for it. I know he's very ambitious."
Chopra is currently busy shooting for the first season of television series Quantico and has her Bollywood film Jai Gangaajal up for release on March 4.
