NBC "Today Show" host Matt Lauer has had a couple tough weeks. Mainly, Lauer has had to deal with rumors of an ongoing feud with former co-host Ann Curry after her messy departure from the network last June. Apparently not much is going right for Lauer who know reportedly is facing issues with his horse farm now. The TV personality was allegedly issued a stop-work order on his 40 acre horse farm in the Hamptons at the end of March.
Lauer has been dealing with "Today" show drama for some time now. With all the stuff he is dealing with at his job, I'm sure the news of his horse farm construction being halted did not make Lauer a happy camper. According to the New York Post, a stop-work order was issued on Lauer's Long Island horse farm after residents complained about the property.
The Daily Mail reported that Lauer has big plans for his horse farm, including luxury stables with an indoor arena. According to The Daily Mail, neighbors are worried the residence being structured for up to six groomsmen could become too intrusive and cause traffic problems. The New York Post reported that Lauer can't put a home on the property, but can build structures necessary for "agriculture-related business." A source told the Post, "When tearing down the old office they found rot. We need to fix the roof before work can begin again." Lauer's massive horse farm includes 36 horse stalls, a man made pond, and a riding area according to the article.
This is probably not the best news for Lauer, but going by the source, it may just be a temporary problem. However, what may be more than a temporary problem is the hit Lauer's image took with the all the rumors surrounding the "Today Show." Lauer's popularity took a big hit following the Curry departure after reports of it being his fault. There were even reports of Lauer and Katie Couric starting their own daytime talk show together.
Now that the dust has settled, except for Lauer's horse farm, hopefully the TV host can move on from all the drama and begin to repair his image. Most likely it will just take time for Lauer to get back in the good graces of fans following the poorly handled changes.
