'Survivor' 2013 Recap: 'Caramoan' Season 26, Episode 8 'Blindside Time,' Fan and Favorite Tribes Merge, Food Challenge Returns

CBS's "Suvivor" went back to its heyday Wednesday night with the dreaded food challenge. Contestants had to pull out their inner "Fear Factor" by eating disgusting bugs, worms, pig brains and anything else you can find on "Survivor: Caramoan." The show also was teasing a blindside to fans with the Favorites owning the Fans tribe all season long. Finally, will Phillip find himself annoying one too many people on the island? Phillip continues to tell people he threw the challenge last week to get Julia off the show. Meanwhile, Michael is very grateful that he wasn't the one tossed off the island last week. The highly anticipated merge of tribes occured last night. Of the remaining 12 players, 8 are from what was the Favorites tribe and 4 are from the Fans tribe. With the tribes merged into one, what new alliances will form?

Everyone is trying to form alliances with Phillip recruiting Andrea to join him, Dawn, and Cochran. Phillip's new nemesis, Corinne talks with Malcom about her and Michael joining Malcom, Reynold, Eddie, and Erik for an alliance of six.

The immunity challenge features the "everyone eating disgusting foods as fast as you can competition." The first group to eat is Corinne, Erik, Malcom, Eddie, Andrea, and Sherri who are eating beetle larvae. The first three to finish and move on are Andrea, Malcom, and Eddie. The second group is Dawn, Reynold, Phillip, Brenda, Michael, and Cochran. Cochran, Phillip, and Michael all advance.

In the second round, the final six, are eating "ship worms." Malcom, Eddie, and Cochran eat their "ship worms" whole, which I must say is pretty impressive. The final two comes down to Malcom and Cochran eating pig brains after Eddie chokes on his meal. Cochran ends up winning immunity after devouring the pig brains.

At Tribal Council there was the usual strategizing, but since the show teased fans with a blindside, it can't be who we think will be eliminated right? In a bit of a surprise, Phillip's nemesis Corinne is voted off, just edging out Sherri. Unfortunately or fortunately for fans, Corinne is the latest person to be voted off from "Survivor: Caramoan."
