Days after the revelation that British actress Emily Blunt is in talks to play Julie Andrews' role in a Mary Poppins sequel, it seems that, while Dick Van Dyke's character Bert won't be part of the story, Disney approached Broadway talent Lin-Manuel Miranda for a similar role -- the Hamilton star and creator could be singing along with Blunt!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is in the middle of talks with Miranda so he'll join the film, currently in the very early stages of production. It seems the multi-talented star is circling the role of Jack, a lamplighter in Depression Era London, the time period in which the film will be set.

At just 36 years of age, Miranda is quite the overachiever; although best known for Broadway smash Hamilton, he's already just one step away from joining the very exclusive group of people who've won all four major U.S. entertainment awards. So far, Miranda has an Emmy for writing the opening number to the 67th Tony Awards, a Grammy for the In the Heights album, and a couple of Tonys for the same musical -- in all, he just needs an Oscar to complete the collection.

Miranda's also a Pulitzer nominee and one of the recipients of last year's McArthur "genius" grant. Really, he'd probably kill it on anything he puts his mind to and yes, that includes the Mary Poppins sequel.

So far, the only people confirmed as part of the project are Rob Marshall (who previously worked with Blunt on Into the Woods) as director and producer, with Marc Platt and John DeLuca producing with him. David Magee will write a screenplay, while Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman are attached to create an all-new soundtrack.

It seems the movie will follow Jane and Michael Banks as grown-ups after experiencing a major personal loss. At this time, Mary (Blunt) comes back into their lives to help them cope, with the help of family friend Jack (Miranda).
