Christopher Abbott, who plays Charlie on the HBO hit show "Girls," has decided to leave the show, citing creative differences with the show's writer and lead actress Lena Dunham. The 27-year-old actor is reportedly working on "numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show" for the third season. Abbott was also in the 2011 independent film Martha Marcy May Marlene opposite Hugh Dancy, John Hawkes, and Elizabeth Olsen.

According to a source close to Abbott:

"He's sure the show will continue to do well, but as far as his character, he wasn't behind where it was going to end up. Chris was reluctant to do the show from the get go. He's a really great actor, the source material from the beginning was great and he was grateful to Lena. But he's at a point now where he has too many great film parts being offered to him to turn them down for something he's not 100 percent satisfied with. He feels good about his decision."

Abbott portrayed the on-again, off-again boyfriend of one of the show's main characters, Marnie, played by Allison Williams. The two broke up in the first season after dating for a very long time and then rekindled their relationship in the season finale of the second season of the HBO series. When the two reunited, Marnie told Charlie, "I want to make you a snack every night. And I eventually want to have your little brown babies and eventually I want to watch you die."

The last part of that quote might open up the possibility of a death on the show in order to write Charlie off. How do you think Dunham will work out Abbott's exit into the third series? Charlie was not a huge part of the show but will it suffer without him?
