Sanjay Dutt Released From Jail: Bollywood Celebrities Welcome Actor on Twitter

Munna Bhai star and controversial Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was released from the Yerwada Central Prison in Pune earlier this week is now walking as a free man.

This not only gave Bollywood celebrities and his fans a reason to cheer for him but they also felt happy for his family.

Dutt, son of veteran actor-turned-politician, late Sunil Dutt, was sentenced a jail term for a period of six years for possessing an AK-56 rifle under the Arms Act, which was supplied to him by underworld men and involved in the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai.

The actor's jail term was later reduced to five years by the Supreme Court of India and, on the grounds of good behavior, Dutt finally walked out free after spending 42 months in prison. As soon as news spread of his release, Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to congratulate the actor.

His fans lined outside his residence to catch a glimpse of their favorite star back home, reunited with his family. The actor, who was last seen in Rajkumar Hirani's PK, received a hero's welcome at the Mumbai Airport and later at his Pali Hill residence. He said that it felt great to be free again.

According to news published in the Times of India, the actor, in an emotionally drained state and visibly in tears, addressed the media outside his house, where he said he missed his legendary father the most.

Dutt also mentioned that his dad was his pillar of strength, who stood by him through thick and thin. Earlier, Dutt was arrested in 1993 and jailed for 18 months in the same case. The actor further stated that it was his father who would have been the happiest to see him walk out free of all charges.

After relaxing for some time with his family, he will start shooting for Hirani's upcoming installment in the Munna Bhai series.
